HUNTING IN THE HOHE TAUERN NATIONAL PARK

hotel heiligenblut nationalpark lodge grossglockner programm jagd artikelbild 1

Hunting chamois amidst the magnificent mountainscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park may well be the ultimate Into the Wild adventure. Stalking wild game surrounded by the awe-inspiring scenery of the Schober, Glockner and Sonnblick mountain ranges is an experience you’ll remember for many years to come.

Our hunting territory covers 3,000 hectares, spanning from alpine pastures to the eternal ice. All our Into the Wild hunting tours take place within the area surrounding Heiligenblut am Grossglockner, and are led by a certified hunting guide. Paths and trails take you up above the tree line, while two rustic huts serve as your basecamps.

Requirements for our Into the Wild hunting tours.

As well as requiring a valid hunting permit, you must be accompanied by our certified hunting guide. We will obtain the permit on your behalf – the price is included in the trophy fee. Prior to your excursion, you must deliver a 200-metre trial shot at the indoor shooting range in Döllach/Grosskirchheim. The tour is carried out in the name of the hunting territory’s owner/leaseholding partners. The regulations of the Carinthian Hunting Law apply.

  • Hunting season: 1 August – end of October
  • Equipment: good hiking boots (can be rented), standard hunting attire
  • Requires a good level of physical fitness
  • Minimum stay for hunting guests: 4 days – though we highly recommend at least 7 days
  • All trophies will be presented at the next springtime trophy showcase, and have to remain with us until then

THE PERFECT WINTER EXPERIENCE: WELLNESS & WILDERNESS AT THE NATIONALPARK LODGE IN HEILIGENBLUT!

Into the Wild: our new, exclusive and tailor-made outdoor programme gives you the chance to explore the breathtaking natural world of the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark with experienced, state-certified guides. All details are available in the Info Corner at our Pioneers’ Bar.

Here are five sound reasons why the Grossglockner - Heiligenblut ski resort is the ultimate terrain for venturing "Into the Wild":

  • "Into the Wild" ski route, Fleiss valley: steep, untamed, exhilarating. Makes Kitzbühel’s legendary ‘Streif’ look like a family slope!
  • "Into the Wild" panorama: from the cableway station at the Schareck summit, it’s only a few steps to a 360° view of the breathtaking mountainscape of the National Park. Almost obligatory: a ‘selfie’ against this stunning backdrop, at the Grossglockner photo spot!
  • "Into the Wild" guaranteed snow cover: Nature is on our side! The altitude and orientation of the "Fallbichl" mean that its slopes count among the most reliably snow-covered pistes in Carinthia. On the ski resort’s other pistes, the same is achieved with a little help from a recently expanded, state-of-the-art snowmaking system.
  • "Into the Wild" freeride arena: launch yourself from the Freeride Checkpoint into a deep-snow paradise. Dream slopes, spanning 5 sectors for the ultimate off-piste experience.

Our "Into the Wild" programme consists of day-tours as well as packages. You are also able to add any number of tours to your itinerary while staying at the hotel. Please note that your tour itinerary may be changed due to weather conditions and safety considerations.

KIDS AND TEENS

Our Into the Wild guide will determine on a case-by-case basis whether a tour will be suitable for your child. Children up to ten can join you free of charge, while teens up to 16 receive a 50% discount.

PIONEERS BAR

The perfect meeting place for nature and mountain enthusiasts

When history comes full circle: in the very spot where, more than 150 years ago, guests and guides first arranged their Grossglockner summit tours, we meet up today in order to plan – and later celebrate – our Into the Wild excursions.

Then

160 years of mountaineering history! 1858, when our hotel was a village inn known as the Glocknerwirt, our great-grandmother first began to liaise between the ever-growing number of guests wishing to summit the Grossglockner, and one of Heiligenblut’s most legendary mountain guides. Soon the ‘Bergführerhäusl’ (Mountain-guide Cabin) was built next-door to the inn – and so, if you will, Austria’s first outdoor-tourism agency was born.

Now
An innovative blend of bar and planning hub.
We are delighted to continue with this tradition at the Nationalpark Lodge: in the exact spot where the Mountain-guide Cabin once stood, we have created our Pioneers’ Bar. Its authentic, cosy interior makes it the perfect place to end an adventurous day with a relaxing drink or merry get-together. And, in line with ancient tradition, this is also where we meet up to plan our Into the Wild tours together with our team of experts.

Highlights:

  • Newly refurbished bar with authentic interior
  • Open fireplace
  • Live music
  • Into the Wild information corner
  • Into the Wild tour consultation
  • Meeting place for nature and mountaineering enthusiasts
